MADURAI AIRPORT DETAILS

Madurai airfield was first used by the Royal Air Force in World War II in 1942.  First passenger flight was a Fokker Friendship aircraft on the Madras to Madurai to Trivandrum to Madurai to Madras route in 1957 Being identified as one of 35 non-metro airports for modernization, the new integrated terminal building was inaugurated on 12 September 2010.The airport was notified as customs airport. The notification, issued on December 2011. two chartered flights from Malaysia landed at the airport on 25 August 2012, making them the first international aircraft that landed in the temple city. The first commercial international flight started on 20 September 2012 by Spice Jet commencing its maiden service to Colombo.In order to boost export from Madurai and its surrounding districts, the Department of Revenue under the Union Ministry of Finance has issued a notification dated 28 May 2013 permitting Madurai airport to handle cargo.The airport has two adjacent terminals. Currently the integrated terminal is being used for both International and Domestic purpose. Airport Authority of India is planning to convert the old terminal into a cargo complex . AAI had asked around 610 acres of land in Madurai to take up runway extension work. The state government has promised that land will be acquired and handed over on time. In response to that, the district administration has proposed to acquire 610 acres of land to expand the Madurai airport. The proposed site, including 100 acres of poromboke land, would pave way for extending the runway to 12,500 metres enabling the airport to handle international services. A team comprising Airports Authority of India, Highways Department and Madurai Corporation officials had identified the site on the eastern side of the airport that would intersect the Ring Road over 5 km. As per the plan, the Ring Road would be disconnected at Mandela Junction and diverted via Perungudi and Avaniapuram to connect the Tuticorin Road.

Chinnalapatti details

Chinnalapatti is town known for suitable residential area in Dindigul district.Chinnalapatti's economy mainly depends on handloom weaving industry and is known for it. Weaving has been a way of life in Chinalapatti since time immemorial. Now people are producing Cotton sungudi saris with Zari borders, these are ideal for daily wear. Vedasandur had a population of 10,813. It is located on NH7. Males constitute 51% of the population and females 49%. Vedasandur has an average literacy rate of 75%, higher than the national average of 59.5%: male literacy is 81%, and female literacy is 70%. Dindigul ayyanar falls

Dindigul thirumalaikeni murgan temple details.

The specialty is the spring, the source of which could not be traced. Thirumalaikeni, situated 25 kms. From Dindigul on the way to Senthurai has a beautiful temple, where Lord Muruga blesses his devotees. It is situated on the top of a hill in the midst of thick flora and fauna. Peacock and monkeys engage the children who visit the temple. The spring water is tasty and is available in hot, cold and normal temperature at various places with in the temple which surprises the devotees. Buses are available from Dindigul. Private cars and vans are the other modes of transport. The place can also be approached from Natham.This is a two tier temple in the midst of dense forests. The idol of the presiding deity was damaged in days of yore and the temple too became dilapidated. Regular pujas came to an end. Sri Kripanandavariar took up the renovation of the temple in the year 1979. A new idol was made for the presiding deity. But the old idol could not be removed. Therefore, a Mandap was built where the old idol was installed while a temple above this was built installing the new idol. Thus, it became a two tier temple with deities installed in each. The two temples are constructed with high engineering skill that the water used for the abhishek of the Lord in the upper level will fall on the Lord in the Ground too through a hole specially made for the purpose.

Vadamadurai details & history

Vadamadurai is derived from the Tamil word 'vadakku' meaning North. Vada - madurai thus means north of Madurai; the reason why this village was named this is because the Temple City Madurai has a Kallazhagar festival in its Vishnu Temple Soundara Raja Perumal Temple', that is also celebrated in the temple of the same lord in Vadamadurai. The significance here is, only these two places in the whole of Tamil Nadu have such a temple with such a festival. The festival runs for 15 days, Aadi Therottam and Muthupallaku are important events in the festival. Nearly 18 villages people are participated this festival. The another important event is 'Mattu Thavani' (it means Market place. Selling Bullock and cow during the festival time).
